i wonder where i end up maybe i’m walking the coast i always claimed to hate holding the hands of people i love tossing wildflowers into the waves to see if they come back again maybe the bookstore i stand in is mine and i’m pressing wildflowers into the pages pollen dusted and sweet-smelling for others to breathe in and sigh maybe i am buried under the japanese maple in my grandmother’s front yard, encouraging wildflowers to grow for the neighborhood kids who have come after me to pick maybe i am made of wildflowers wherever i go i leave traces of me to grow and decay and to be reborn in books and seafoam.
