We are proud to announce the release of Issue 43 of Wayfarer Magazine. This 100-page, full-color print edition is created to be read, revisited, and cherished through the winter months!
Letter from the Editor
Dear Wayfarers,
This year asked us who we are when the unthinkable happens…again.
Wayfarer was founded to chart the road to change and to map the routes between us so we can better understand ourselves and the world we share. Over the last twelve months, that mission sharpened into an obligation.
As a trans-owned publishing house during a rise in fascism, we are more than a magazine now; we are a public record that says we were here, we are here, and we will be here tomorrow. In this global moment, a trans press cannot merely publish what is marketable or strictly brand-aligning. We must extend a hand to those whose existence is threatened and who have something to say to us from the margins.
Our focus as a magazine now is a stand against erasure. When the machine of fascism tries to censor the human story to a single column, our pages must widen. When laws are drafted to silence us, we must answer with a rallying cry of voices.
This issue gathers a year of protest and persistence, but it does not only look back. It looks toward the future our communities are already building. The pieces in this issue are not identical in tone—some rage, some pray, some laugh, but all are worthy of being heard.
In these pages, you will meet people who risked being known in an effort to lay down language as a bridge. Such actions are not small; each poem and essay are coordinates that lead toward understanding lives different from your own.
If you have been in the streets, we see you. If you have been at home, tending to your own becoming, we see you. If you are bone-deep tired, we see you, too. Movements require surge and rest. The fight against fascism is not a season, it’s a practice.
In solidarity
—Connor Wolfe (They/them)
ABOUT THE ISSUE
Launching The Uncharted Project
At the heart of this issue is the launch of The Uncharted Project, a new interview series created by Wayfarer’s founder and Editor-in-Chief, Connor Wolfe. Every guest is asked the same ten questions, yet the answers reveal something raw, unpredictable, and deeply personal about the creative life. In this inaugural series, Wolfe sits down with a poignant company of voices: Pádraig Ó Tuama, Chris La Tray, James Crews, and Ana Maria Spagna.
A Tribute to Andrea Gibson
In this issue, we also revisit a powerful interview from our archives with Andrea Gibson in honor of their passing. Their words and presence have shaped and inspired so many, and it is with deep gratitude that we share their voice again within these pages.
Protest Poetry and the Power of Voice
Issue 43 looks back on the most vital Protest Poetry of 2025, with work engaging themes of Trans Rights, Palestine, Black Lives Matter, and the ongoing fight against fascism. These pieces remind us that art, words, and activism walk hand in hand.
