drip
drip
the faucet is dripping on the counter
so i run to get a towel from the closet
say i’ll clean it all up
and i scrape my leg on the door
now there’s crimson on the perfect white
the dog is running up the stairs
starts licking the door
but i have the towel in my hand
drip
drip
the ceiling is dripping
and the faucet too
and now i don’t know what to do
maybe if i run to get a bucket
the bucket is full of leaves
from the last time we raked
drip
drip
the water is coming down the stairs
the children are running away
the door is open as they flee for freedom
they are scared of the water coming rushing toward them
they are running
telling mommy and daddy they don’t know where to go
where is safe
the leak is coming from the faucet at home
or is it at school
we don’t know anymore
drip
drip
