not everyone is kind.
i remember telling my therapist
that i felt like the world
had stolen my joy,
as friends began leaving
and drama unfolded
before my eyes.
and then, unwanted comments:
i was just looking for attention.
but i did not choose who i am.
i only chose to present who i really am.
i’d like to think that somewhere
out there, some creator
stitched me together as i am
with love and kindness,
to be who i’ve always been,
to be who i am now,
to be who i am becoming.
i am not broken.
i do not need to be fixed.
i just need to be me.
