All who wander are not lost,
unless they’re in a mall,
going nowhere,
living the dream,
perfect suspension
between deep despair
and perfect escape,
not lost at all,
found, where ascetics
thought you could never be,
fulfilled by fantasy.
The mall is a peaceful place,
shallow as a pond,
Narcissus falling in
the modern maze of life,
narrowed down to nothing.
Not clothes,
shoes, or salesmen,
rather, disco music delight,
a cultural cauldron of colors,
and pocketbooks,
selling cheap to ridiculously expensive.
A potpourri of power,
a woke joke of prosperity
on the third and fourth floor
where the deals are, market melting pot,
for minorities,
and envious white emulators.
Fashion is king,
imitation no sin,
throwaway society,
let freedom begin.
