From the collection, Drive Through the Night.
Red lights mix with rain
—spilling blood
across the windshield.
Not a road long enough
to outrun the dawn.
The darkness hums
with deafening regret.
Walking the wet streets,
seeking absolution.
Finding only
the ghost of us.
Not a road long enough
to outrun the dawn.
Let the sun rise.
